The Elcor Way

We’ve intentionally developed specific principles, practices, and behaviors that have become the foundation of our unique company culture. We collectively refer to this as The Elcor Way. It defines who we are and shapes how we engage with our clients, partners, and team members. These fundamentals play a crucial role in driving our continued success.

Act with Integrity

Demonstrate an unwavering commitment to doing the right thing in every action you take and every decision you make, even when no one is looking. If you make a mistake, own up to it, and make it right.

Think Safe. Work Safe.

Know and practice the safety procedures for your role. Watch out for your teammates and protect them as part of the Elcor family. Never take shortcuts that compromise safety.

Be Client-Centric

In all situations, serve the client at the highest level. Put their needs ahead of our own. There is no greater way to build a reputation than to do what’s right for others every day.

Excel as a Family

Our relationships go deeper than simply being teammates at work. We genuinely care for and about each other. Show your compassion, whether it’s a kind word during a tough stretch, a friendly smile each morning, or a helping hand in stressful times. Be there for each other.

Honor Commitments

Do what you say you’re going to do when you say you’re going to do it. This includes being on time for all deliverables, phone calls, appointments, and meetings. If you are unable to fulfill a commitment, communicate it early, and establish a new path forward.

Demonstrate a Passion for Excellence

Take pride in the quality of everything you touch and everything you do. Always ask yourself, “Is this my best work? Am I proud of what I’ve done?” Set high goals, use measurements to track your progress, and hold yourself accountable for achieving those results.

Practice Blameless Problem-Solving

Demonstrate a relentless focus on solutions, instead of pointing fingers or dwelling on problems. Identify lessons learned and use that knowledge to improve yourself and our processes to avoid making the same mistake twice. Learn from every experience.

Mentor and Empower Others

Proactively share knowledge with others to facilitate their growth. Take responsibility, both formally and informally, to coach, guide, teach, and mentor others. Encourage your coworkers and let them know they are capable, regardless of their age or experience.

Be Curious

In the search for the best solutions, challenge and question what you don’t understand. Ask thoughtful questions and listen intently to the answers.

Choose Optimism

You have the power to choose your attitude. Choose to be upbeat, optimistic, and enthusiastic. Give people the benefit of the doubt. Your attitude is contagious. Find ways to lift others up.

Take Ownership

You are responsible for the outcome of your work. If presented with a problem, be resourceful and show initiative to find a solution without waiting for explicit direction from a supervisor. Learn from any mistakes and take steps to prevent them in the future. Hold yourself accountable.

Listen to Understand

Give others your undivided attention. Minimize distractions and be present and engaged. Listen patiently and avoid jumping to conclusions. Above all, listen to understand.

Speak Courageously

Speak honestly, professionally, and respectfully in ways that help to make progress. Say what you mean, and be willing to ask questions, share ideas, or raise issues, even when it may be challenging or uncomfortable. Confront concerns head-on by engaging directly with those who are involved or affected.

Assume Positive Intent

Assume that people are good, fair, and honest, and that the intent behind their actions is positive. Set aside your own judgments and preconceived notions. Give people the benefit of the doubt.

Collaborate to Succeed

Share information and work together. Collaborate internally and with our clients and partners to find the best solutions. Collaboration creates the potential to develop more innovative ideas and alternative approaches.

Show Meaningful Appreciation

Look for opportunities to show appreciation when people perform at a high level or exceed expectations. Celebrate their achievements. Be specific about what they did well and why it was important.

Invest in Yourself

Be a lifelong learner. Seek out and take advantage of every opportunity to increase your knowledge, improve your skills, and gain expertise. Share relevant knowledge with team members to promote learning and growth.

Respond Promptly

Respond to questions and concerns quickly, whether it’s in person, by email, or by phone. This includes simply acknowledging that you got the question and you're “on it”. Keep those involved continuously updated on the status of outstanding issues.

Make it Personal

Get to know your co-workers and clients on a more personal level. Seek out opportunities to talk in person or over the phone. Understand what’s important to them. Strong relationships make it easier to work through difficult issues and challenging times.

Establish Clear Expectations

Discuss expectations up front to ensure clarity and understanding. Be clear on your expectations of others and ask when you’re not clear on what they expect of you. Be sure to identify action items, assign responsibilities, and establish deadlines.

Think Before You Act

Make good decisions by relying primarily on facts and data, instead of on opinions or emotions. Be objective. Analyze all of the available information to make better decisions.

Work Efficiently

Be organized and plan your work for maximum efficiency. Have all the tools, materials, and information necessary before starting your work. Prioritize and plan your tasks to make the most of your day.

Consider Diverse Perspectives

Be open to learning from others, no matter what role they have, and regardless of their age, background, experience, or tenure with our company. We make better decisions when we consider multiple perspectives.

Work Hard. Play Hard.

Prioritizing professional growth is important, but making progress in your career requires a healthy work-life balance. Take time to embrace the spaces around the office where work meets play. If you need to take some time to refresh and recharge, go for it. We want you to excel both in and out of the workplace.

Embrace Change

What got us here is not the same as what will get us to the next level. Get outside your comfort zone, rather than simply hanging on to old ways of doing things. Be excited by the possibilities that change brings. Be flexible.

Treasure, Promote, and Protect Our Reputation

We’re all responsible for, and benefit from, our company’s image and reputation. You never know when opportunity will present itself or who might be watching, so consider how your actions affect our collective reputation. Always be a proud ambassador of the company.
